Three Generations...

Recently our Nonprofit organization Cast It Forward welcomed three generations of Michigan anglers for a meaningful day of family, fun and fishing.

Joining us were Patriarch, Father, Grandfather, and Marine Corps Veteran Al, his Son Andy, a First Responder, and grandchildren Emma & Noah.

The walleye are all but done spawning and are now spending their time recovering and are constantly on the move. Fishing is good but the pockets of fish can be small and spread out.

The lake’s surface temperature read 56-60 degrees, winds were ESE@ 10, water clarity <2’, trolling speeds 1.6 - 1.9 mph and barometric pressure read 29.83 inHg.

Our best patterns were Walleye Nation Creations Reapers in Real Teal, Anti Freeze and Magic, along with Bandits in Black Wonderbread and Dipsey / Stinger Spoon combo run 50-75’ back at a “0” setting. Most productive crank bait leads were run unassisted between 60’-140’ back.

It’s always a great time when families get to spend time together on the water and today was no exception.

We are grateful to be able to provide Al, Andy, Emma and Noah this opportunity and wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

Early Spring Veteran Walleye Trip

4/28/25 Huron, Ohio: Today our Nonprofit organization welcomed Marine Veteran Chris, Army Veteran Al, and Marine & Army Veteran Allen on board.

These men joined us through our relationship with the Ottawa County based Team VIAC Training Center, an organization dedicated to veterans by “giving back through life changing experiences".

Today we spent the morning targeting and catching a mixed bag of pre and post spawn fish. These fish are on the move and it’s not uncommon to catch a mixture of both.

The lake’s surface temperature read 56 degrees, winds were SSW@ 10, water clarity < 2’, trolling speeds 1.6 - 1.8 mph and barometric pressure at 29.93 inHg.

Our best patterns and leads were blue/ silver / chartreuse based and run unassisted at 30’-80’ back.

Please join us in thanking veterans and Team VIAC members Chris, Al and Allen for fishing with us today and for their dedicated service to our country.

First Responders Walleye Trip

5/12/25: On this day our Nonprofit organization Cast It Forward welcomed first responders Jason & Stephen on board with us for a morning of walleye fishing. These gentlemen joined us through our relationship with the Canton area based nonprofit Legacy of Honor whose “goal is to serve Veterans, First Responders and their Families.”

Today we spent the morning targeting and catching a nice array of cooler worthy walleye. The lake’s surface temperature read 56-58 degrees, winds were ESE@ 10, water clarity <2’, trolling speeds 1.6 - 1.8 mph and barometric pressure was 30.20 inHg.

Our best patterns were Walleye Nation Creations Reapers in Real Teal and Magic, along with Bandits in Red Wonderbread and Tommy Harris custom painted Night Stalker and Nemo. Most productive leads were run unassisted between 60’-120’ back.

Please join us in thanking First Responders Jason and Stephen for their dedicated service to our community.
